January’s LaxCon event may have a different look and feel from previous editions as it moves to an all-virtual format for 2021, but some things will not be changing. And that includes, for the fourth straight year, a dedicated education track focused on box lacrosse.
A prominent and growing list of speakers will headline the platform of presentations for box players, coaches, and officials during the two-day event on January 15-16.
“As the national governing body for lacrosse, we’re committed to growing and supporting all the different disciplines of the game here in the United States, and box lacrosse is an important part of that commitment,” said Rick Lake, men’s lacrosse director at US Lacrosse. “We’re excited about the outstanding line-up of box lacrosse experts who are joining us for LaxCon.”
Regy Thorpe, head coach of the U.S. National Indoor Team and a popular LaxCon presenter, returns again to provide his insights. Thorpe will have two sessions focused on box drills and skills, with one session targeted for female players and one session for male players.
“There seems to be as many girls playing box now as boys, so we thought that having two sessions would be a fun way to get the girls’ coaches involved,” Thorpe said. “We will be sharing drills that can be done anywhere, not just at an indoor arena. There are so many skills in the box game that can carry over to the field game to help young players develop.”
As in prior years, the National Lacrosse League will have multiple presenters this year, ranging from All-Pro player Callum Crawford of the New York Riptide to current coaches Eddie Comeau of the Georgia Swarm and Chris Collins of the Philadelphia Wings.
Retired player and coach Chet Koneczny is also part of this year’s line-up and will outline a new digital platform that offers practice planning for coaches, with drills and plays for beginner, intermediate and advanced coaching.
Additionally, Ian Garrison, universally recognized as one of the best officials in professional box lacrosse, will host a session that explains the basics of officiating box lacrosse.
“From coaches to players to officials, this year’s box lacrosse track offers something for everyone,” Lake said. “We want to keep continually providing more box lacrosse resources to our members and all of these LaxCon offerings consistently help to grow our resource library.”

The cost of registration for LaxCon for US Lacrosse members is just $45, and includes access to all virtual sessions, on-demand access for one full year, access to the virtual exhibitor hall, a virtual event bag with exclusive deals, and networking opportunities with other attendees.
