A new series showcasing three of the U.S. men’s national team players will debut tonight on Next Level Sports & Entertainment (NLSE).

“Home Soil” follows Charlie Bertrand, Blaze Riorden and Michael Sowers through their experiences in the hometowns and the places they consider home as they prepare for the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship, which begins on June 21 in San Diego.

Air Dates

  • June 15: U.S. Men’s National Team “Home Soil” Series with Michael Sowers, 7 pm (Eastern) (Re-Air Sunday, 6/18, 9:00pm)

  • June 19: U.S. Men’s National Team “Home Soil” Series with Charlie Bertrand, 7 pm (Eastern)

  • June 20: U.S. Men’s National Team “Home Soil” Series with Blaze Riorden, 7 pm (Eastern)

Sowers is playing on his second U.S. team after helping the 2016 U.S. U19 team win a gold medal. The former Princeton and Duke star hails from Dresher, Pa., and helped the Waterdogs win the Premier Lacrosse League championship in 2022.

Bertrand is one of the rising stars in the sport. The lone small college player on the U.S. team roster, Bertrand led Merrimack to consecutive NCAA Division II championships in 2018 and 2019 and then helped Virginia to the 2021 NCAA Division I championship as a grad transfer. Bertrand, from Baldwinsville, N.Y., plays in both the NLL (Las Vegas) and PLL (Redwoods).

Riorden is one of the most dynamic players in the sport. Riorden is a goalie in field lacrosse — he was the PLL’s MVP in 2021 leading the Chaos to the league championship — but plays forward in box lacrosse. This past season he was third on the Philadelphia Wings in scoring with 34 goals. The Fairport, N.Y., native played collegiately at Albany and has previously represented the U.S. in the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.
