Six-time Medalists
After five straight bronze medal finishes at the World Lacrosse box championships, the U.S. men's team broke through with a silver medal finish in 2024 in Utica. N.Y. The U.S., which had beaten the Haudenosaunee Nationals during pool play for the first time in the event's history, once again beat the Haudenosaunee in the semifinals to reach the championship game for the first time.
Connor Kirst capped a fourth-quarter rally with the go-ahead goal in an eventual 12-11 victory and Gowah Abrams made a clutch save in the final 30 seconds. The U.S. ultimately fell to Canada in the championship game.
The U.S. almost broke through in 2019, leading the Haudenosaunee 6-5 in the fourth quarter before losing a tight 9-7 semifinal game before bouncing back to beat England in the bronze medal game.
Launched in 2003, the U.S. contingent at world box championships was coordinated by outside entities until 2015. Since the 2015 championship, USA Lacrosse has managed all aspects of this national team program.
