Videos: 2022 Rules Interpretation for Girls’ Youth & High School Lacrosse

The rules of lacrosse are designed to do two things – promote fair play and keep players safe. Each year, USA Lacrosse reviews and updates the rules of the game to ensure that those goals are being satisfied. 

Last week, in conjunction with LaxCon, USA Lacrosse presented rules interpretation videos summarizing the newest girls’ rule changes and points of emphasis for the 2022 season. The videos are developed to help prepare and educate the lacrosse community for the upcoming season.

Primary rule changes in 2022 are focused on substitutions, penalty administration for goalies, boundary restarts, and equipment clarifications. The three main points of emphasis for both youth and high school girls’ play in 2022 have been identified as, 1) Sportsmanship, 2) Rough & Dangerous Play, and 3) Shooting Space.

The videos, linked below, provide further clarification on each of these points of emphasis, as well as more detailed explanations for each of the rule changes and adjustments. In addition, a summary of each rules interpretation video is available in PDF format:
