UTICA, N.Y. — The United States offense continued to sizzle as the Americans beat England 23-3 in pool play during the World Lacrosse Men’s Box Championship at the Adirondack Bank Center.
The U.S. scored its goals in bunches, stringing together three goals in just 23 seconds during the first quarter, three in a span of 46 seconds in the second quarter and three in the opening 87 seconds of the second half.
Jack Hannah led the way with six goals, giving him a team-leading nine in the first two games of the tournament. Connor Kirst added four goals, Mac O’Keefe had a hat trick and Joe Resetarits had a team-high seven points on a goal and six assists.
Drew Hutchinson went the distance in goal for the U.S. and made 28 saves while blanking England over the final 34 minutes of the game.
The U.S. (2-0) has on off-day on Monday and will then close out pool play on Tuesday night at 8 pm against five-time event champion Canada. That game will be played at the Mary C. Winder Community Center – Oneida Indian Nation’s new 90,000-square-foot community center – as part of an event partnership with the Turning Stone Resort Casino.
