USA Lacrosse Regional Academies Announced for Dallas & Denver; Registration is Open

SPARKS, Md. — Registration for two new USA Lacrosse Regional Academy events in Dallas and Denver is now open, offering professional development opportunities for coaches and officials. Both events are scheduled for Dec. 7-8, 2024.

The USA Lacrosse Academy in Denver will be held at the Sonesta Hotel. More details here.

The USA Lacrosse Academy in Dallas will be at the Westin Dallas Stonebriar Resort, and is geared for coaches only. More details here 

Both events are open to both USA Lacrosse members and non-members.

For coaches attending at either location, the Regional Academies will provide for an intimate educational opportunity curated to provide coaches of every level with practical insight and x's and o's instruction from top collegiate and club coaches. Attendees will hear from a wide range of accomplished coaches covering core components of the game to help prepare them for the upcoming 2025 season.

Among the scheduled coaching speakers in Denver are:

▪ Liza Kelly, Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach, University of Denver 
▪ Mitch Fenton, Women’s Lacrosse Associate Head Coach, University of Colorado 
▪ Mike Horowitz, Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach, Colorado College

Scheduled coaching speakers in Dallas include:

▪ Jay Sothoran, Boys’ Lacrosse Head Coach, Episcopal School of Dallas 
▪ Molly Ford Hutchinson, Girls’ Head Coach, Hockaday School & GRIT Lacrosse 
▪ Kevin Cutinella, Boys’ Head Coach, ADVNC Dallas Club 
▪ Liz Holmes, Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach, SMU

Men’s and women’s game officials attending the Denver event will also have the opportunity to attend educational sessions to prepare for the upcoming season. Sessions to be offered will include youth and high school rules changes and points of emphasis for 2025, designed to deepen each attendee’s understanding of challenging rules and improving game management skills. The educational track for officials will be held Saturday only with sessions beginning first thing in the morning and ending late afternoon.

Officials serving as presenters in Denver include:

▪ Jeff Grose, USA Lacrosse National Rules Interpreter
▪ Anne Carr, National Elite official and trainer & USA Lacrosse rules committee member
▪ Rena Whitehouse, National and International official and trainer
▪ Liz Brush, National and International official and trainer

Both locations will include an attendees’ social and networking event on Saturday evening, included with registration. Lunch is also included.

The Regional Academy in Denver is being supported by partners Warrior and Brine.

Two additional East Coast-based regional academies, scheduled for January, will be announced in the coming weeks.
