USA Lacrosse Advisory on IIJL Events

By USA Lacrosse Staff

World Lacrosse, the international federation for lacrosse as recognized by the International Olympic Committee, issued an advisory to members on July 28, 2023 noting that events organized by International Indoor Junior Lacrosse (IIJL) have no affiliation with World Lacrosse. These events are not recognized or sanctioned by World Lacrosse, nor any of its member governing bodies.

USA Lacrosse is a Recognized Sports Organization of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee and is the only governing body in the United States that can field national teams for recognized international lacrosse competition. The teams and coaches selected by US Indoor Lacrosse (USIL) for these IIJL events do not represent and are not sanctioned by USA Lacrosse. Athletes and coaches participating on these USIL teams are not members of USA Lacrosse National Teams.

USA Lacrosse currently fields 12 recognized national teams:

  • Men’s and Women’s Senior USA Teams

  • Men’s and Women’s U20 USA Teams

  • Men’s and Women’s Box USA Teams

  • Men’s and Women’s Sixes USA Teams

  • Men’s and Women’s U16 and U18 USA Select Teams (National Team Development Program)
