UTICA, N.Y. — The United States improved to 3-0 in pool play at the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s Box Championship with a 28-2 victory over Hong Kong, China at the Utica University Nexus Center.
Coming off of a physical and emotional 11-4 victory over the Haudenosaunee on Saturday night, the U.S. jumped out quickly with three goals in the opening three minutes of Sunday afternoon’s win.
Thirteen different players scored goals for the U.S. and 17 had at least one point.
Molly Garrett led the offense with a team-high seven points on four goals and three assists while Charlotte North led the U.S. with six goals. Ally Kennedy and Melissa Sconone each registered hat tracks while Erin Bakes (2g) and Courtney Taylor matched Garrett’s team-high three assists.
Taylor Moreno played the first 30 minutes in goal for the U.S. and made four saves while allowing just one goal. Madison Doucette closed out the victory, by allowing just one goal in the second half while making three saves.
Sumyeut Cheng and Cherry Hon scored Hong Kong’s goals and Claudia Chan made 59 saves (41 in the first half). Sum Tang also had seven saves for Hong Kong.
Following three games in three days, the U.S. will have an off day on Monday before completing pool play against England on Tuesday at 1 pm.
