The United States completed pool play with a 34-2 victory over Israel to secure the No. 2 overall seed at the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship in Hong Kong, China. The U.S. won Pool A with a 4-0 record while allowing seven goals in the tournament while Canada won Pool B with a 4-0 record while allowing just six goals to earn the No. 1 overall seed.
On Tuesday, the U.S. offense was operating on all cylinders and scored 11 goals in each of the first two quarters. Madison Alaimo had a team-high nine points (4g, 5a) and Emma Muchnick and Madison Taylor each scored five goals. Emma LoPinto added six points (2g, 4a) and the trio of LoPinto (30 points), Taylor (27) and Alaimo (26) are the top three scorers in the tournament.
Maddie Epke earned Player of the Match honors after another standout performance in the draw circle. Epke had 21 draw controls, giving her 61 games through the first four games of the tournament.
The U.S. opponent in the quarterfinals will be announced after the completion of Tuesday’s pool play games. The U.S. quarterfinal game on Wednesday will begin at 11:30 a.m. local time – with the time difference, the game will actually start on Tuesday night at 11:30 (Eastern time) back in the USA.
