UCLA and Denver Club are the top-ranked teams in the newest WCLA Division I and II Top 20 rankings, released today.

The Bruins (9-0) are the defending D-I champions and have held the top spot in the Division I poll since the preseason, while Denver (4-1) jumped three spots this week to claim the number one D-II ranking for the first time this season.

A relatively light week of action did not yield much movement in the Division I poll, with each of the top seven teams remaining idle and holding their same positions. Unlike varsity teams which try to maximize lacrosse activity during spring break, many WCLA clubs remain inactive while players enjoy traditional spring week activities.

Most of the Division I movement resided in the middle portion of the ranking, with No. 8 Virginia Tech and No. 9 Utah both moving up two spots. No. 10 Central Florida was the biggest mover of the week, jumping four spots following its overtime victory over then-No.8 Florida Club.

No. 11 San Diego State Club also enjoyed a successful week and jumped two spots by recording three wins, including a 15-10 victory over then-No. 9 UC Santa Barbara.

In Division II, Denver Club leapfrogged to the top to displace Cal State San Marcos, which dropped one position despite posting two Top 20 wins in the past week. No. 3 Ole Miss, No. 4 Cal Poly ‘B’, and No. 5 UC San Diego round out the top five.

Nearly 150 non-varsity collegiate teams comprise the WCLA and compete under the USA Lacrosse umbrella. The season will conclude with the top qualifiers competing in the WCLA national championship tournament in Wichita, Kansas, May 7-10.
