USA Lacrosse has named Miranda Menousek, a high school student from Omaha, Nebraska, as winner of the organization’s 2024 Emerging Leader Award, which honors a young adult who has unselfishly given their time and talent to help grow and build lacrosse awareness.
The award winner is selected from among all nominations submitted and is an individual who thoroughly embodies the mission and vision of USA Lacrosse.
Menousek, a member of the Class of 2025 at Gretna High School, serves as a volunteer with three different local youth lacrosse organizations while also balancing her academic schedule and her own playing schedule.
“Miranda always takes time to help mentor and coach our youth players, volunteer for clinics, and help with all three organizations whenever possible,” said Adam Dugan, a coach with the Lincoln Youth Lacrosse Association. “Whether she’s coaching or helping at the scorer’s table, Miranda is always around the fields to help with the youth. She does a fantastic job of connecting and communicating with all of the younger players. Miranda is a great ambassador for the game.”
Another coach said, “Her understanding of the game is more indicative of a junior in college than a junior in high school. If there is a clinic occurring within a 50-mile radius, Miranda is there, and she is bringing some of her teammates. Miranda's love for lacrosse is evident whenever she has a stick in her hand, is cradling, or explaining and teaching the sport.”
