Following more than a year of Player ID and training camps, head coach Ginny Capicchioni has named the inaugural U.S. Women’s Box National Team. The 23 players selected will represent the United States at the World Lacrosse Box Championships in Utica, N.Y. from Sept. 20-29.
The U.S. will be one of 10 nations competing in the women’s championship, the first time World Lacrosse has hosted a women’s box world championship. The U.S. men have won five straight bronze medals in the box world championships and will be one of 28 nations competing in the men’s portion of the event in Utica.
The U.S. women’s team includes a mix of players with previous national team experience in other disciplines in addition to players making their national team debut in box lacrosse. Seven of the players on the roster have previously medaled with the U.S. in major international competitions.
Ally Kennedy, Ally Mastroianni and Charlotte North were all members of the gold-medal U.S. team that won the field world championship in 2022 and Kristen Carr won gold with the 2013 and 2017 U.S. field teams and at The World Games 2017. Madison Doucette won a world championship with the 2019 U.S. U19 team and also won a silver medal at The World Games 2022 alongside Marge Donovan and Sam Swart.
