Chris Dax Named VP of Philanthropy for USA Lacrosse

SPARKS, Md. – Chris Dax, a veteran fundraising professional with nearly 25 years of experience in the field, has been named VP, Philanthropy for USA Lacrosse, the governing body for the sport in the United States.

“Chris brings a level of expertise that will help USA Lacrosse to succeed,” said USA Lacrosse CEO Marc Riccio. “With lacrosse in the LA28 Olympics, we have a tremendous platform to impact lacrosse in the U.S. Chris is well-equipped to help us raise the additional resources we need to fulfill our mission. We’re excited to get started.”

“I am honored to have the opportunity to help shape the future of lacrosse by advancing the mission of USA Lacrosse,” Dax said. “With the philanthropic support from our lacrosse community – both current and future – we have the power to fuel the growth, enrich the experience, and field the best national teams. My goal is to inspire and engage those who wish to be catalysts for impactful change.”

Dax has worked in fundraising at the University of Maryland, College Park, since 2017, most recently as Senior Director of Development in University Relations. In this role he managed fundraising strategies and activities for campus-wide initiatives. He also served in roles in the Robert H. Smith School of Business at Maryland.

Prior to his roles at Maryland, he spent more than a decade at Johns Hopkins, initially working in fundraising in the athletic department before moving into a role as the Director of Annual Giving for Johns Hopkins University & Medicine.

A varsity soccer player at Michigan State, Dax began his professional career as a coach, first as an assistant at Washington College and then later as the head coach at Coker College. While at Coker, he began his professional career in fundraising, becoming the Director of Annual Giving & Athletic Fundraising for the school.

Dax earned his bachelor’s degree in physiology from Michigan State and a master’s in psychology from Washington College.
