Background
There is no higher honor in the sport than representing your country in international competition. The following rosters are from U.S. men's teams that have played in World Lacrosse (and its predecessors from the FIL and ILF) championships in field lacrosse.
Rosters (1988-2016)
1988
In the inaugural ILF U19 World Championship, held in Adelaide, Australia, the U.S. beat Canada in the gold medal game.
1992
The U.S. offense poured in more than 20 goals in its final five games to win the world championship on Long Island.
1996
The first world championship in Asia featured the U.S. going a perfect 6-0, culminating with a 13-8 victory over Australia in Tokyo.
1999
The U19 championship returned to the site of the first event in Adelaide, Australia and the U.S. beat Canada in the final.
2003
In a combined men's and women's championship played at Towson, MVP Matt Danowski led the U.S. past Canada in the championship.
2008
The U.S. made it six straight world championships, beating host Canada in the gold medal game.
2012
The U.S. suffered its first loss — two in fact — before coming back to beat the Iroquois and Canada in the playoff round to win the world title.
2016
The U.S. staged a dramatic rally, coming from six goals down at halftime and three goals in the fourth quarter to win 13-12 over host Canada.
