Vancouver, B.C. – Inspired by athleticism, protection and strength, Vancouver’s National Lacrosse League (NLL) team launched its new brand identity today – the Vancouver Warriors.
Canucks Sports & Entertainment revealed the new logo, colours and storylines in front of members of the local lacrosse community, media and representatives from the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh nations.
The Warriors will open their season on December 8th at Rogers Arena versus the Toronto Rock. The Warriors new website (vancouverwarriors.com) and social channels (@nllwarriors) were also launched today, featuring more details and storylines behind the new name and brand identity.
“In choosing the name, we wanted to land on an identity that honoured the legacy of lacrosse in our province,” said Jeff Stipec, COO, Canucks Sports & Entertainment. “It was also important for us to have a name that incited feelings of strength and excitement to accompany the dynamic atmosphere at NLL games.”
The primary logo and name were inspired by a long-standing history of lacrosse in the province and include local elements in the design.
At its core, three forged stripes, coloured gold and bone-white, form the defining V and W monogram. These three lines are each inspired by the storied traits embodied by the region’s traditional Warriors: athleticism, protection and strength.
