Best of Lacrosse 2023: Vote for Best Team Celly

Welcome to #BestOfLacrosse2023. Help us celebrate the past year of lacrosse by voting in 15 polls over 15 weekdays in December, beginning Monday, Dec. 4. All voting will be conducted on X (@usalacrossemag), and fans will have 24 hours to make their selections.

We watch the on-field action closer than ever before through slow-mo replays, highly produced highlights and other linear broadcast tools. That’s not the only place action happens on a lacrosse field, though.

While the stars make the headlines, there are invaluable players on the sidelines who might not make a tangible impact on the day’s result. But their value comes from building chemistry as an in-game hype person for their team. Today’s Best of Lacrosse category celebrates the teams that threw down the best on the sideline.

BEST TEAM CELLY

ARMY MEN’S LACROSSE

We bet you didn’t know you need Joe Alberici dancing to “Gasolina” in your life. In 2023, you learned you did. This clip went viral after Army’s upset over Rutgers on February 18, proving there’s nothing better than a coach celebrating a big win with the same enthusiasm of his players.

JACKSONVILLE WOMEN’S LACROSSE

The raw emotion of winning a conference championship shined through when Jacksonville topped Liberty in overtime to win the ASUN in May. Defender Adele Spencer was hyped after the win over Liberty, and she took that excitement straight to the cameras. 

NOTRE DAME WOMEN’S LACROSSE

From turntables to leap frog to coordinated dances, few teams celly harder than Notre Dame. Their electric on-field offense is matched only by their electric off-field hype team.

SYRACUSE WOMEN’S LACROSSE

The Syracuse offense cooked — over an open fire — for most of the spring. This straightforward campfire celebration also cooked — even if the Orange ultimately fell in this one to Boston College.
