Nick Alo’s Instagram caption perhaps put it best: “When worlds collide.”
Alo, the former Georgia Southern faceoff specialist and current ticket operations coordinator for the Savannah Bananas baseball team, did something rather unusual last Thursday.
The Cumming, Ga., native who graduated from the MCLA program in 2021 took the mound as a pitcher for the Bananas — donning his Georgia Southern helmet and gloves while slinging heat with his lacrosse stick.
In a popular video clip posted to social media, Alo can be seen throwing a ball before inducing a flyout to right field.

The Bananas aren’t a typical baseball team. They play “Banana Ball,” a version of the sport meant to entertain and captivate their audience. That’s why Alo pitched Thursday night in Syracuse, one of the premier lacrosse cities in the country.
Alo was a two-time All-SELC faceoff man at Georgia Southern, winning 237 of 457 faceoffs in his career.
