Rob Pannell, one of the Premier Lacrosse League’s biggest, and newest, names, is one the move. Pannell, who played the PLL Championship Series with Atlas LC, is being traded to Redwoods LC for draft picks, first reported by The Post Game podcast and later confirmed by the Premier Lacrosse League.

The moved marks Pannell’s second team in as many seasons in the PLL. He announced his move to the PLL from the MLL last March and was selected third overall in the league’s Entry Draft one week later.

Pannell brought considerable experience to the PLL last spring — he won the 2013 Tewaaraton out of Cornell, set the MLL’s single-season points record with 78 and won the MLL MVP award in 2018. His first impression in the PLL came in the form of five games during the Championship Series, during which he dropped six goals and nine assists en route to Atlas LC’s 1-4 record.

Of note, Atlas LC has the first pick in the upcoming PLL College Draft, where current Duke star Michael Sowers is considered a strong candidate to hear his named called as the top pick. Sowers, like Pannell, is an effective player at x and often initiates offense for his team.

Pannell will join a Redwoods team that finished fifth in the Championship Series scoring charts, tallying 42 one-point goals and 10 two-pointers.
