USA Lacrosse Board of Directors Announces Support for the Creation of a Lacrosse Equipment Council
WHEREAS USA Lacrosse, a recognized sports organization by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the U.S. representative to World Lacrosse, has a longstanding commitment to the safety and integrity of lacrosse equipment; and
WHEREAS the newly proposed Lacrosse Equipment Council (LEC), will serve as an independent dedicated forum for the evaluation, objective review of lacrosse equipment and the development of standards for certifying by an independent body; and
WHEREAS the LEC will maintain an independent structure, integrating representatives from key areas within the lacrosse community, including rule-making bodies, manufacturers, retail, sport research, medical, and standard-setting organizations; and
WHEREAS the mission of the LEC is to foster growth, enhance the athlete's experience, and uphold the safety standards of the game through the review of lacrosse equipment that currently lacks testing standards and the development of standards for certifying by an independent body as needed; and
WHEREAS the LEC is committed to promoting innovation that drives performance while improving playing safety by monitoring equipment impact through sport-specific research; and
NOW, THEREFORE be it proclaimed that the Board of Directors for USA Lacrosse formally recognizes and supports the establishment of the Lacrosse Equipment Council (LEC) and its dedication to the evaluation and the development of standards for certifying by an independent body of lacrosse equipment, in alignment with USA Lacrosse's mission to support the integrity and safety of the sport.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this proclamation endorses the LEC’s commitment to transparency, collaboration, integrity and safety within the lacrosse community and beyond, ensuring that equipment used by athletes across the nation meets the highest standards of performance and safety.
