Missy Foote

Inducted as a truly great coach and still active at the time of her induction in 2012, Foote had compiled 376 wins and a career winning percentage of nearly 80 percent through 31 seasons as head coach at Middlebury (Vt.) College. She retired following the 2015 season with a career record of 422-114-1 record (34 years), a win total that ranked second among all head coaches in Division III history. 

Foote guided Middlebury to the NCAA Division III national championship five times (1997, 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2004) and recorded four perfect seasons. Under her guidance, Middlebury recorded seven conference championships and qualified for the NCAA tournament 21 times, with 14 straight trips to the NCAA national semifinals from 1994-2007. 

She has been recognized as the IWLCA's national coach of the year five times, and was named her conference's coach of the year eight times. Foote coached more than 35 first-team All-Americans during her career, including 11 national position players of the year. In addition to lacrosse, Foote also served 21 years as Middlebury's field hockey head coach and registered a record of 180-95-12, with an NCAA championship in 1998. Foote served as an assistant coach with the U.S. Women’s Developmental Team from 2005-09, and was a member of the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Committee from 2003-06. 

Inducted previously into the US Lacrosse New England Hall of Fame, the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame, and the Ward Melville High School Hall of Fame, in 2017, she became one of six head coaches inducted into the IWLCA's first Hall of Fame class.
