Brown '16The comeback kid.
Jack Kelly has learned a thing or two about patience in his career. He's also learned about perseverance.
In high school, he played behind eventual Duke star Kyle Turri at West Islip (N.Y.) and didn't start until his senior year when he helped the school win a state championship. He found his way to Brown where he was a two-year captain and one of the key cogs on the Bears' 2016 final four team as the nation's top goalie.
He found immediate success at the pro level, helping Denver win the 2016 MLL championship and was voted the league's goalie of the year in 2017. As one of the top goalies in the sport, he made the U.S. team in 2018.
In the second U.S. team game of that tournament, Kelly tore his ACL. It would be more than 1,000 days and three seasons before he returned to the field in the 2021 PLL season. By 2022, he played for the U.S. Sixes team at The World Games, regained a starting role with the Waterdogs in the PLL and made the U.S. team again.
