World Lacrosse has announced that three upcoming world championships will be conducted in Asia:

  • 2025 World Lacrosse Men's U20 World Championship in Korea
  • 2026 World Lacrosse Women's Championship in Japan
  • 2027 World Lacrosse Men's Championship in Japan

The men's U20 world championship will mark the first time that World Lacrosse has hosted a championship event in Korea. The U.S. won the most recent championship at this level - taking home the gold over Canada in Limerick, Ireland in 2022 with C.J. Kirst earning MVP honors.

The women's world championship in Japan will mark the second time the country has hosted this event. The United States edged Australia 3-2 in the 1997 world championship in Japan. The U.S. is the reigning champion in this event as MVP Taylor Cummings led the U.S. past Canada in 2022 in Towson, Md., marking the first time that the host nation won the women's championship.

No country in Asia has ever hosted the men's world championship, so the 2027 men's championship will be an historic occasion. The U.S. won the 2023 world championship in San Diego with Brennan O'Neil bringing home MVP honors after a five-goal performance against Canada in the championship game.
