SPARKS, Md. – The Box Lacrosse League (BLL), a thriving nationwide adult box lacrosse league, has joined the USA Lacrosse membership program.
“This is one of the first pieces of the USA Lacrosse effort to grow box lacrosse in America,” said Garrett Wimberly, Manager of Sport Growth for USA Lacrosse. “The partnership with the BLL will serve as a showcase for box lacrosse at the adult level with an eye towards growing towards the youth level in the near future. USA Lacrosse has joint efforts in the box game with key stakeholders across the country, including the National Lacrosse League, to promote growth and development.”
“We are very excited to partner with USA Lacrosse and become a new member organization,” said Clayton Melrose, General Manager of the BLL. “With our shared vision and dedication for growing the box game, we look forward to collectively building the national platform that provides new structured opportunities for box lacrosse players, coaches, and officials."
The robust USA Lacrosse insurance program, which is utilized by member leagues and programs of all age levels around the country, includes box lacrosse coverage.
Founded in 2020 as the Great Plains Box Lacrosse League, the now BLL has expanded since its launch and featured 18 teams in its history. The Chicago Portagers edged the Rocky Mountain Raptors, 13-12, to win the league’s championship, the Harvest Classic, last fall.
