Baker, Duffy and Taylor Named U.S. Women's U20 National Team Captains

SPARKS, Md. — Shea Baker (Boston College/Ithaca, N.Y.), Brigid Duffy (Army West Point/Queensbury, N.Y.) and Madison Taylor (Northwestern/Wantagh, N.Y.) have been named captains for the 2024 U.S. Women’s U20 National Team that will compete in the World Lacrosse Women’s U20 World Championship next month in Hong Kong, China.

A rising junior midfielder at Boston College, Baker played an integral role in the Eagles’ recent run to the NCAA championship. She anchored a defensive unit that allowed just 8.43 goals per game, fourth best in Division I. Baker had 13 caused turnovers, 24 draw controls and 17 ground balls — all career highs.

Duffy is a multi-sport star at Army West Point, playing soccer for the Black Knights in the fall and competing in lacrosse during the spring. A two-time All-American midfielder, she was the only player in the country to produce 60-plus goals, 100-plus draw controls and 25-plus caused turnovers during the regular season this year.

Taylor was Northwestern’s top scorer and a Tewaaraton Award finalist as a sophomore attacker for the NCAA runner-up Wildcats. She tallied 83 goals and 33 assists, finishing as the most accurate shooter in the country at 56.5 percent.

All three players came through the USA Lacrosse National Team Development Program. Baker and Duffy were teammates on the 2021 USA Select U18 team that helped claim the Brogden Cup. Taylor participated in the NTDP Combine that year.

U.S. Women’s U20 National Team head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller announced Baker, Duffy and Taylor as captains at the end of the team’s training camp last weekend in Evanston, Ill. They’ll convene again for a final training camp Aug. 8-10 in Northern California before traveling to Hong Kong to play as many as seven games in nine days in pursuit of the United States’ sixth world championship at the junior level.

The U.S. opens pool play Aug. 16 against Germany at Shek Kip Mei Sports Centre — game that will be streamed live on WLTV (8:30 a.m. Eastern).

The U.S. Women’s U20 National Team trains and plays using game-changing, high-performance equipment from Cascade/Maverik, Gait Lacrosse and STX, custom apparel from Lacrossewear and best-in-class products from Enovis (sports bracing).

In addition to these partners, Gatorade, MedStar Health and Stryker are official sponsors of the U.S. National Team Program. Team training is also aided by products from Athletic Republic.

Funding for the national teams also comes from generous donors to the USA Lacrosse Foundation. Help support the team.
