USA Lacrosse Announces 2024 Grant Awards to Support Local Initiatives

By USA Lacrosse Press Release

Sparks, Md -- USA Lacrosse announced today that it has awarded 184 new national grants to support groups and organizations in initiating and promoting local lacrosse opportunities. The awards include equipment grants, physical education grants, education grants and financial grants.

With most grants ranging between $1,000 and $5,000, the aggregate value of the awards during this grant cycle is $369,000, with grant recipients representing all 10 of USA Lacrosse’s geographic regions. All application submissions were reviewed in detail by a panel of USA Lacrosse staff to verify organizational eligibility and need.

“Our strategy this year was focused on elementary age play and physical education. As a result, we were able to meet more of our grant requests than in previous years. More importantly this year’s grant program will impact over 75,000 kids,” said USA Lacrosse president and CEO Marc Riccio.

Andersonville Elementary in Michigan was among the schools that received a physical education grant and recently expressed its appreciation.

“This lacrosse equipment grant has been a game-changer for my classroom,” said Brian Luba, one of Andersonville’s physical education instructors. “It has opened up a new world of physical activity for my students. As a PE teacher, I am always seeking innovative ways to engage and inspire my young athletes, and lacrosse is a sport that many of them have never tried before. The students are incredibly excited to learn the skills and play the game. USA Lacrosse’s generosity will have a lasting impact on our students' lives.”

Funded through philanthropic contributions, annual grants are a strategic component of USA Lacrosse’s mission to provide structure and resources to support local growth initiatives and bring new people to the sport.

By supporting the USA Lacrosse Foundation, donors provide thousands of children across the country with the opportunity to experience the gift of lacrosse. To learn more about the USA Lacrosse Foundation, please visit usalacrosse.com/foundation.
