Maddie Stevens, Bartram Trail (Fla.)
Bartram Trail's potent offense was held in check in the state championship versus St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.), so it was up to the defense and goalie Maddie Stevens to keep the Bears ahead. MIDWEST
Tia Boyle, Loyola Academy (Ill.)
Since returning from Colorado, the Ramblers are on quite a run. It isn’t just that they’ve won seven straight, mostly against elite competition. It’s that they held said tough competition — Wellesley (Mass.), Thayer Academy (Mass.), Hinsdale Central (Ill.), New Trier (Ill.), New Albany (Ohio), Mother McAuley (Ill.) and Upper Arlington (Ohio) — to single digits. How did Loyola hold all seven to single-digit scoring? Having a keeper like Tia Boyle sure helps, with the keeper’s heroics including 11 saves against the Golden Bears.
