NORTHEAST

Gabby Putman, Cicero-North Syracuse (N.Y.)

Consider Cicero-North Syracuse (N.Y.) coach Stephanie Prentice not surprised when Gabby Putman scored the overtime winner in a season-opening 10-9 win over Penfield (N.Y.). Putman, a Vanderbilt-bound senior, scored three goals and also had 10 draw controls for the Northstars, the defending New York State Class A champions.

“Gabby finds a way to make the big plays, whether winning a draw or scoring the game-winning goal,” Prentice said. “She is probably the most complete player I’ve ever coached, and because of that, she makes the plays when it matters the most. She continues to amaze us on the draw circle, as she makes the adjustments she needs during the game on her own.”

Also notable: Casey Cummings, Nyack (N.Y.); Olivia Franco, Sacred Heart-Greenwich (Conn.); Paige Garguilo, Massapequa (N.Y.); Dylan McNamara, Sayville (N.Y.); Ella Nee, Ossining (N.Y.); Sara Richardt, Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.)
