Spilis, Montgomery, Montanye are USA Lacrosse Women's Players of the Week

This season, USA Lacrosse will celebrate the accomplishments of players across Divisions I, II and III each Tuesday with Player of the Week recognition. Players of the Week are selected by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors based on a variety of factors, including individual performance and impact on team success.

DIVISION I

CASSIDY SPILIS, RUTGERS

There might have been a few other players with bigger stat lines last week, but Spilis gets the nod here for a couple reasons. First off, Rutgers might not still be alive in terms of the NCAA tournament without her contributions to a win over Johns Hopkins. Spilis had a season-best seven points (five goals, two assists) and also became the all-time goals leader in Rutgers history (191). Rutgers must beat Maryland in the Big Ten semifinals to guarantee NCAA tournament eligibility, even if the Scarlet Knights fail to win the conference tournament.

DIVISION II

MEKAYLA MONTGOMERY, UINDY

The graduate defender spearheaded a stellar defensive effort by the Greyhounds, as they stifled Maryville's high-scoring attack for a 13-8 win in Sunday's GLVC championship game, securing their third straight league title. Montgomery helped limit Maryville to a season-low eight goals, including a scoring drought of nearly 24 minutes. She also added her first goal of the season and three draw controls in the victory. 

DIVISION III

GENEVIEVE MONTANYE, MISERICORDIA

A 2-0 week for Misericordia was punctuated by a triple-overtime win against Stevens, a game in which Montanye had five goals — including the winner — and one assist. Overall, Montanye had eight goals and three assists on the week for Misericordia, which enters the MAC Freedom tournament with significant momentum.
