Fairfield Five-Peat! Stags Make MAAC History in 17-4 Win Over Siena

It’s a five-peat for Fairfield.

The Stags were never threatened by Siena on Sunday on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium, becoming the first program in MAAC women’s lacrosse history to win five straight conference championships.

Caroline Mangan, the tournament MVP, had six caused turnovers, three ground balls and 10 draw controls in the 17-4 win.

Mangan and the starting defense of Lindsey Barnes, Julia Rigolizzo and Keyla Bay held Siena and Quinnipiac, the Stags’ semifinal opponent, to a combined 11 goals in the tournament. Casey Collins made 17 saves in the two games.

Fairfield (14-4) raced out to a 7-2 lead after the first quarter and 13-4 by halftime. Ellie Grefenstette had two goals and five assists, Elizabeth Talluto had four goals and one assist, Olivia Doody had three goals and two assists and Grace Slater had three goals and one assist. Libby Rowe had two goals and two assists.

Fairfield dominated Siena (12-7) in all facets, outshooting the Saints 39-13 and winning 17 of 22 draw controls. The Stags won the ground ball battle 17-11.
