The Cannons Lacrosse Club was the second Premier Lacrosse League expansion franchise, joining the league ahead of the 2021 season following the merger of the PLL and Major League Lacrosse where the Cannons has been one of the league's most successful franchises. The PLL team was rebranded as the Boston Cannons ahead of the 2024 season. The Cannons, who won MLL championships in 2011 and 2020, were the PLL Championship Series champion in 2024.
