Thanksgiving dinner at the Kavanagh house just got more interesting.
In what could certainly be characterized as a shocker, the Boston Cannons have traded attackman Pat Kavanagh — who produced 12 points as a rookie this summer — to the Denver Outlaws in exchange for the third overall pick in the 2025 College Draft and a second-round pick in 2026.
In adding another young weapon on offense, Denver’s outlook brightens for the future. Pairing Kavanagh with Brennan O’Neill and Logan Wisnauskas forms one of the most talented young offensive cores in the Premier Lacrosse League.
The move is an interesting one from Boston’s perspective, especially with older brother Matt Kavanagh’s standing with the team. There was a numbers crunch on attack, though, with Marcus Holman and Asher Nolting representing key parts and Mike Robinson adding to that as another building block.
In the 2025 College Draft, Chris Kavanagh represents a potential top three selection, so the opportunity to put all three brothers on the same line is gone. Perhaps Boston will use that pick to get younger on defense, a unit that was productive but boasts five players 27 years or older.
