Yale faceoff specialist TD Ierlan, who went 16-for-17 and scored a goal in the Bulldogs’ 10-5 win over Albany, is the Warrior/US Lacrosse Player of the Week.

Ierlan, arguably the highest-profile transfer in the sport’s history, was under the microscope in his return to Casey Stadium and his first game against his former team. He performed admirably, and afterward had a heartfelt exchange with Great Danes coach Scott Marr.

Marr told local reporters afterward that he told Ierlan that he loved him.

Ierlan set NCAA Division I records for faceoff winning percentage, faceoff wins and ground balls as a sophomore at Albany last year. He has picked up where he left off, leading the country in all three categories this season.

Ierlan currently sports a 77.9 faceoff winning percentage, 219 faceoff wins (in 281 attempts) and 160 ground balls (14.55 per game).

The Warrior/US Lacrosse Player of the Week, selected by US Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors, recognizes the top performers in Division I men’s lacrosse throughout the season.
