Virginia’s Maggie Jackson, whose drawing and feeding prowess fueled the Cavaliers’ game-ending six-goal run in a 13-10 win over Virginia Tech, is the Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week.
Jackson doled out four of her career-high five assists in the second half and corralled 10 draw controls to become Virginia’s all-time leader with 292 in her career.
The Cavaliers remained perfect in games in which their in-state rival visits Charlottesville, though the result hardly seemed certain when the Hokies took a 10-7 lead early in the second half. Jackson nearly single-handedly helped turn the tide.
Virginia will be the No. 5 seed in this week’s ACC tournament.
The Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week, selected by US Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors, recognizes the top performers in Division I women’s lacrosse throughout the season.
