Athletes Unlimited is suspending its women's lacrosse league after four seasons, the organization announced Wednesday.

The league cited challenges with the international calendar and player availability.

Athletes Unlimited has made the difficult decision to suspend its Pro Lacrosse league indefinitely effective immediately. The international competition schedule and availability of the sport’s most elite athletes during the summer months over the next few years makes it impossible for AU to project the growth of our league over that period.

Since its inception in 2020, AU has proudly partnered with athletes across its leagues in providing them with a player-driven platform to compete professionally in the U.S. and the opportunity to benefit from the value that they create. Athletes Unlimited continues to grow as a company, and every athlete who has played in Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse will continue to participate in our profit participation plan for 20 years from the season in which they competed.

As we look ahead, we will work with the community of professional lacrosse players to determine how we may best support them in the evolving professional landscape.
