World Lacrosse Gets Steve Aoki for Championship Opener, Adds Brazil

It was a busy news days for the sport's international governing body Thursday.

World Lacrosse announced Thursday morning that internationally acclaimed DJ Steve Aoki will perform at halftime of the opening game of the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship between Canada and the United States at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.

Aoki is one of the highest-grossing artists in electronic music dance history with several high-profile collaborations and a Grammy Award-nominated studio album to his credit. Last year, he was ranked No. 7 in DJ Magazine’s Top 100. He is known for his remixes of artists such as Kid Cudi and has a combined social media following of more than 20 million.

Also on Thursday, World Lacrosse officially welcomed Brazil as its 86th member nation. 

Brazil becomes the 22nd member of the Pan-American Lacrosse Association and the seventh member from South America alongside Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay.
