Dialed In: Your Lacrosse Fix for Wednesday, Jan. 4
Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Virginia and North Carolina are the top-ranked teams in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Division I Men’s and Women’s Preseason Top 20, respectively. USA Lacrosse Magazine released the rankings Tuesday.
Virginia came in at No. 1 on the men’s side, followed by Maryland, Georgetown, Cornell and Princeton. The Cavaliers bring back seven All-Americans from last year.
Defending NCAA champion North Carolina is No. 1 in the women’s rankings. The Tar Heels are 49-1 since the start of the 2020 season. Maryland, Boston College, Stony Brook and Northwestern round out the top five.
2. The San Diego Seals are back in the No. 1 spot in Jack Good’s NLL power rankings.
The Seals improved to 3-0 with a 17-14 win at Calgary over the weekend, an outcome in which former Roughnecks stars Dane Dobbie, Curtis Dickson and Wesley Berg all played prominent roles.
