1. USA Lacrosse Magazine reveals 2023 Division I Preseason All-Americans.
USA Lacrosse Magazine unveiled its 2023 Division I Preseason All-Americans for men and women on Tuesday. The selections were made by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff with input from coaches.
Georgetown led the way on the men’s side with two selections in midfielder Graham Bundy, Jr. and defender Will Bowen. Maryland totaled 10 picks, including honorable mentions, the most by any program. February cover star Sam Handley of Penn also made the first team. View full list.
The women’s first team was also balanced, with UNC (Caitlyn Wurzburger and Emily Nalls), Maryland (Abby Bosco and Emily Sterling), Loyola (Katie Detwiler and Jill Wilson) and Boston College (Jenn Medjid and Belle Smith) garnering two selections. 2. New coach, similar expectations for No. 19 Jacksonville.
Exit program-builder Mindy McCord, enter new head coach Tara Singleton at Jacksonville. The 19th-ranked Dolphins, who have had a hold on the Atlantic Sun for nearly a decade, are under new leadership in 2023. Singleton, Janine Tucker’s former right-hand woman at Hopkins, has taken the helm with high expectations. The Dolphins’ challenging non-conference schedule includes Florida, Arizona State, Rutgers and Michigan, but Singleton believes the team has the depth to hang with some of the nation’s best.
