Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

  1. Report: John Odierna is heading to Syracuse
Former Manhattan men’s head coach John Odierna is reportedly stepping down from his post and going to Syracuse to become Gary Gait’s defensive coordinator, according to Inside Lacrosse’s Ty Xanders. Manhattan announced Odierna planned to depart his post on Sunday. If confirmed at Syracuse, Odierna will replace Dave Pietramala, who took the same position at North Carolina after two years under Gait. Read more.

  2. Charlotte North goes first in week three of the Athletes Unlimited draft.
With the first pick in the Athletes Unlimited Draft, Taylor Moreno selected attacker Charlotte North. The former Boston College star moved up 25 spots to No. 14 on the leaderboard in the second week of the season. Sam Apuzzo, Kady Glynn and Abby Bosco also picked teams. See full rosters for week three, starting Thursday, Aug. 3, when Team Glynn and Team Apuzzo square off at 5 p.m. on ESPNU.

  3. College lookbacks continue.
How did the Maryland men fare vs. preseason projections? The defending champion beat a pair of Final Four teams, but not on Memorial Day Weekend. Patrick Stevens dissects the 2023 season.

As for the Florida women, they performed as expected, warding off their biggest challenge for the AAC crown in years. The biggest question: What’s next for a team that’ll be missing two stars in 2024?
