Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. The parity in the PLL remains crazy tight.
For the second weekend in a row, three of the four Premier Lacrosse League games were decided by just a single goal. Thanks to an 18-save performance by Brett Dobson and five assists from Tom Schreiber, the Archers beat Chrome 12-7 to improve to 2-0 this season, but every other game came down to the wire.
The Redwoods are also 2-0 despite falling behind 6-0 to reigning lead champion Waterdogs LC. The Woods got 19 saves from Jack Kelly and three goals from Rob Pannell to rally for a 10-9 win.
Elsewhere, Chris Gray’s goal with 18 seconds left gave Atlas a 12-11 win over the Whipsnakes and Josh Byrne’s overtime goal in his first game since winning the NLL championship with Buffalo brought home a 14-13 win for Chaos over the Cannons.
2. What a night in New York.
The North Carolina contingent was among the crowd at the USA Lacrosse Foundation, including one of the honorees - head women's lacrosse coach Jenny Levy.
The second annual USA Lacrosse Foundation Gala helped raise $760,000 to support the growth of the sport while honoring coaching legends Jenny Levy and Bill Tierney.
3. Dartmouth gets its man.
One of the nation’s top assistant coaches, Sean Kirwan, is taking over the Dartmouth men’s lacrosse program. Kirwan helped direct Virginia’s top-ranked offense this year and won two national championships as an assistant coach with the Cavaliers.
