Matt Brandau showed flashes of what he could be when he visited Tierney Field at US Lacrosse Headquarters last fall. He scored four goals in a matchup with Team USA at Fall Classic on Oct. 8 — a sign of things to come.

Through four games this season, Brandau had yet to find his spark. The freshman had five goals and four assists entering Yale’s highly anticipated battle with Cornell on Saturday, offering a great chance to step up.

And he did just that. Brandau highlighted the Bulldogs’ performance with a career-high six goals to fuel the 16-11 victory. Not to mention, he added two assists, two ground balls and a caused turnover in the win.

For his effort, Brandau earns Warrior/US Lacrosse Player of the Week honors. He’ll look to continue his groove at Princeton this weekend.

The Warrior/US Lacrosse Player of the Week, selected by US Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors, recognizes the top performers in Division I men’s lacrosse throughout the season.
