Severna Park (Md.) and Chatham (N.J.) ride unbeaten starts into this week’s USA Lacrosse High School Girls' National Top 25.

They are the only newcomers in the ranking, though there were plenty of shifts in the Top 25 after strong scheduling and competitive conference play made for plenty of intrigue.

Severna Park (Md.) picked up a win over IAAM contender Archbishop Spalding (Md.) as well as an overtime win to remain perfect. The Falcons are flying high heading into a crucial public school showdown against No. 18 Manchester Valley (Md.) this week.

Chatham (N.J.) is on the rise. The Cougars beat a solid Morristown (N.J.) team to start the week, then they held Summit (N.J.) in check for a 5-3 win over the three-time defending Group 2 state champion in a great annual matchup. Summit had already knocked off another Jersey power, Oak Knoll (N.J.). Chatham finished the week by handing Sacred Heart Greenwich (Conn.) its first loss to earn a spot in the Top 25.

In-region wins by Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.) and Westhampton (N.Y.) allowed them to climb, and Agnes Irwin (Pa.) moved into the top 10 ahead of its showdown against No. 2 Episcopal (Pa.). American Heritage-Delray (Fla.) also bumped up just as it is moving deeper into the playoffs.

St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (Va.) used a key in-region win to improve its ranking. The Saints continue their ascension with a big win over former No. 9 Stone Ridge (Md.), which had put together a lengthy win streak. The Saints have lost just once — at the tail end of their West Coast swing. They could run the table without many top-flight teams left on their regular-season schedule.

Probably the most anticipated game of the week — and one that could shape the ranking further — comes early when Darien (Conn.) plays at St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) in a top-five battle of perennial powers Tuesday night.
