Every Tuesday during the high school lacrosse season, USA Lacrosse updates Regional Top 10 and National Top 25 rankings to reflect the results of the previous week. Below are the Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Boys’ Regional Top 10 updates through games played April 2.

In the Northeast Region, Darien (Conn.) was dominant in its first game, and Ward Melville (N.Y.) won a hard-fought battle over Garden City (N.Y.). But it was Wantagh (N.Y.) that made the biggest statement with a win over St. Anthony’s (N.Y.). A thorough win by Victor (N.Y.) earns them the final spot in the Top 10.

St. Paul’s (Md.) remains atop the Mid-Atlantic Region heading into a week in which it’ll play two Top 10 teams, including now-No. 2 McDonogh (Md.). The Eagles played their best game of the season to hand Archbishop Spalding (Md.) their first loss of the year. Archbishop Carroll (Pa.) also lost for the first time in more than a year, and the narrow win by Agnes Irwin (Pa.) pushes the Owls up from unranked to No. 4. Maryvale (Md.), which has suffered a pair of one-goal defeats to strong teams, is No. 5.

The South Region has an established first four, each from a different state. American Heritage-Delray (Fla.) has won outside its region. Milton (Ga.) had difficulty doing the same in a Mid-Atlantic swing. Bishop England has worked its way into the Top 10 after a 13-0 start. Bartram Trail (Fla.) holds down the final spot.

Midwest Region front runner New Trier (Ill.) has impressed nationally with its competitiveness, as has No. 2 Loyola Academy (Ill.). While much of the region was off last week, some were battling Mid-Atlantic squads in the Spring Fling at St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (Va.).

The West Region has some familiar names back in the Top 10. Torrey Pines (Calif.) has overcome a slow start to prove itself. Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.) earned one nice win and has a schedule that gives it an opportunity to climb further. Colorado Academy (Colo.) and St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.) are still unbeaten, as are No. 4 San Ramon Valley (Calif.) and Coronado (Calif.).

Darien (Conn.) looked the part of the top-ranked team in the country with an 18-5 win over host Manhasset (N.Y.) Saturday afternoon. Chloe Humphrey led the way with six goals and three assists as the Blue Wave scored the game’s first eight goals and had a commanding 11-3 halftime lead. The challenges continue for the Blue Wave this week with Sacred Heart (Conn.) and Summit (N.J.) on the docket. Previous: 1

2. New Canaan (Conn.), 0-0

The defending FCIAC and CIAC Class L champions open their season at Fairfield Ludlowe (Conn.) Tuesday. 6. Wantagh (N.Y.), 4-0

After lopsided wins over Holy Trinity (N.Y.) and Carle Place (N.Y.), the Warriors picked up a statement win Saturday on the road, defeating St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), 7-6. Katelyn Greeley had two goals and Cassidy Harley had a pair of assists for Manhasset (N.Y.), which was without standout injured defender Alexandra Schneider. Addie Pattillo had four goals, Molly Snow had two goals and four assists, Lucy Corry and Bel DiNanno had two goals apiece and Emerson Pattillo had a goal and two assists to pace Wilton (Conn.) to a season-opening 17-2 win over host Shenendahowa (N.Y.)
