MIDWEST TOP 10
1. New Trier (Ill.), 5-2
One can’t help but be impressed by how the Trevians fared against two top programs on the East Coast, falling by a goal apiece to Virginia's Paul VI (11-10) and Washington D.C.'s Georgetown Visitation (12-11 in overtime). In the latter contest, New Trier rallied from a three-goal deficit with under five minutes remaining, including the game-tying score with 11 seconds on the clock to force overtime. Previous: 1
2. Loyola Academy (Ill.), 8-2
The Ramblers battled their way through adversity, including a heartbreaking overtime loss to Greenwich Academy (Conn.), to finish their D.C. trip on a high note with back-to-back wins over St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes (Va.) and Elizabeth Seton (Md.). Junior Jocelyn Park (Johns Hopkins) delivered a hat trick against the Saints, while senior Eileen Dooley (Marquette) and sophomore Grace Dwyer delivered hat tricks against the Roadrunners. Michigan commit Emma Burke, a junior, led the Ramblers with 11 goals on the weekend. Previous: 2
3. Upper Arlington (Ohio), 3-0
Kampbell Stone (Ohio State) made it three straight hat tricks to start the season, including four goals in the Golden Bears’ latest win, a 15-9 triumph over Dublin Jerome (Ohio). Fellow seniors Brennan Campbell (2G, 2A) and Elizabeth Schumacher (2G, 3A) added their biggest performances of the season against the Celtics. Previous: 3
4. Kentucky Country Day (Ky.), 9-1
The Bearcats took on a ton of tough competition before the break, including one-goal wins over Volunteer State power Harpeth Hall and Jackson (Ohio). Coming soon, KCD will take on a different type of challenge with back-to-back-to-back games April 13-15 to kick off a stretch of 12 games in 16 days. Previous: 4
5. East Grand Rapids (Mich.), 1-0
Winners of three straight state titles, the Pioneers started the 2023 campaign with a dominant showing, topping in-state foe DeWitt, 16-5. That’s it for a while for EGR with its next scheduled games coming in mid-April, starting with Forest Hills Central (Mich.) on April 12. Previous: 5
6. University School of Milwaukee (Wisc.), 0-0
Coming off a remarkable one-loss season, in which that lone loss came against one of the region’s best in New Trier, the Wildcats open play in April, led by Abby Sisson (49G, 45A, 31GB) and Mia Darr (32G, 12A, 37GB). Watch for mid-April contests against a couple of challenging Wisconsin foes in WNS Co-Op and Kettle Moraine. Previous: 6
7. Hinsdale Central (Ill.), 3-0
The Red Devils, who scored at least 15 goals against each of their first three opponents, return from break with an in-state contest against Lockport April 8. Hinsdale Central’s following week is one to watch as it plays four games in five days, including road trips to last year’s Buckeye State Division I finalists Upper Arlington and New Albany. Previous: 7
8. Carmel (Ind.), 4-0
After avenging last year’s state title game loss with a win over Guerin Catholic, the Greyhounds refused to allow any letdown, controlling Wednesday’s battle with Zionsville (Ind.). Goalie Jamie Schlieper saved nine of 11 shots, the Carmel defense was dominating and Tori Tomalia (4G, A), Sophie Mock (3G) and Breckin Hare (2G, 2A) all had big games. Previous: 8
9. Mason (Ohio), 2-0
Coming off one of the most impressive victories of the young season, not just for Mason, but really across the region, against 2022 state champion New Albany, the Comets have a three-game week coming up, with the third and final a must-watch against Jackson (Ohio). While the Polar Bears are 2-5, they’ve taken on all sorts of strong out-of-state competition, including Kentucky and North Carolina powers. Previous: 9
T10. New Albany (Ohio), 1-1
After ending last season on an 11-game win streak, the Eagles bounced back from losing their 2023 opener with a nice win over an always tough Medina (Ohio) squad. Another Northeast Ohio opponent, Hudson, should be a great test April 8. Previous: T10
T10. Olentangy Liberty (Ohio), 4-1
The Patriots are building quite a resume, including an 11-3 win over a Mariemont (Ohio) team that won 20 games last year and a one-goal loss to IMG Academy, one of Florida’s top teams. This week offers two big chances for Liberty to prove itself as it takes on two traditional Buckeye State powerhouses in Upper Arlington (April 6) and Medina (April 8). Previous: T10

WEST TOP 10
1. Colorado Academy (Colo.), 5-0
The Mustangs were idle last week but return to competition April 6 against Cherry Creek. That will be one to watch, but the April 12 game against No. 2 St. Ignatius Prep is arguably the toughest game on the slate. Colorado Academy hasn’t allowed more than nine goals in any game. Previous: 1
2. St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.), 8-0
The Wildcats went 2-0 last week with wins over St. Francis Mountain View (Calif.) and Redwood (Calif.). St. Ignatius beat Redwood 9-7 on March 31 in its closest game of the season. No other opponent has come within five goals of the Wildcats. Previous: 2
3. Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.), 9-2
After losing back-to-back games to the two opponents ranked above them, the Knights bounced back with a 14-3 victory at Edison (Calif.), a 16-6 win over St. Margaret’s (Calif.), which is 8-2, and an 18-6 win over Mater Dei (Calif.). Mia Marchetti and Kayla Agarie each had four goals and two assists against Mater Dei, while Marchetti won 17 draw controls on 20 attempts, and Agarie added 10 ground balls. Marchetti also led Foothill against St. Margaret’s, notching four goals and one assist. Previous: 3
4. San Ramon Valley (Calif.), 9-0
The Wolves outscored Dougherty Valley (Calif.) and California-San Ramon (Calif.) by a combined 32-6 last week before a battle against Torrey Pines on April 1. They survived that test, edging the Falcons, 14-13, on the road to remain undefeated. Big games against St. Margaret’s (Calif.) and Foothill still loom this week. Previous: 7
5. Fairview (Colo.), 3-1
Fairview was out of action this past week. The Knights have a loss to Colorado Academy but last collected a win over Valor Christian (Colo.), which topped former No. 4 Cherry Creek to push the Bruins down and making Fairview the top-ranked Colorado team behind the No. 1 Mustangs. Previous: 5
6. Coronado (Calif.), 6-0
The Islanders were idle last week but their win over Torrey Pines (Calif.) looks even better after the Falcons jumped back into the rankings following a win over former No. 6 Cathedral Catholic (Calif.). Coronado still has much to prove and those opportunities are coming this week with games against Sacred Heart Prep and Cathedral Catholic on tap. Previous: 8
6. Torrey Pines (Calif.), 6-5
The Falcons struggled early this season against a tough schedule, but they showed what they are capable of in beating Cathedral Catholic, 14-7, on March 29. There was no shame in a one-goal loss to San Ramon Valley. Two of Torrey Pines’ losses were against out-of-state teams, including Mid-Atlantic power St. Paul’s School for Girls and Texas defending state champion Hockaday. Previous: NR
7. Valor Christian (Colo.), 4-2
The Eagles rolled to a 15-6 win over Cherry Creek with Reagan Digby amassing four goals and four assists and Kaley Kakac adding four goals and winning 14 of 19 draw controls she attempted. Valor Christian’s lone in-state loss was to Fairview, but the win over the Bruins was a statement not to overlook the Eagles. Previous: 10
9. Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.), 7-1
The Gators edged Cathedral Catholic, 12-11, on April 1 to join the rankings with a lone loss to St. Ignatius Prep. They also beat Menlo School (Calif.), 18-7, last week. Two big games against Coronado and San Ramon Valley are on the schedule this week, a chance to prove whether Sacred Heart Prep really belongs. Previous: NR
10. Cherry Creek (Colo.), 6-1
The Bruins suffered their first loss and it wasn’t pretty, falling 15-6 to Valor Christian. Sawyer Billings led with four points on one goal and three assists, but no one managed multiple goals. Cherry Creek managed to win just five draw controls, and Charlotte Morton made eight saves in her 31 minutes but was under pressure all night. The Bruins seek to bounce back this week with games against ThunderRidge (Colo.) and Colorado Academy. Previous: 4
