Unbeaten Cherry Creek (Colo.) and Wilson (Pa.) debut in the latest USA Lacrosse Public High School Boys' National Top 25.
Cherry Creek added two high-quality wins to its resume. Last week, the Bruins defeated both Torrey Pines (Calif.) 11-8 and Episcopal Dallas (Texas) 10-6 to remain unbeaten heading into another challenging game at Legend (Colo.) on Thursday.
Thatcher Swatchick made 12 saves, Alex Crouse won nine of 13 faceoffs and seven different players scored as Wilson handed previously ranked Garnet Valley (Pa.) a 7-6 loss. Luke Azzanesi finished with three points on a goal and two assists.
The top 10 remain unchanged. No. 3 Springfield-Delco (Pa.) has bolted to a 3-0 start with a marquee game against No. 6 Radnor (Pa.) coming Tuesday. (The Cougars play Ridley before then.)
Manhasset (N.Y.) is the only ranked team in the Northeast to play, opening with a convincing 17-7 victory over Shoreham-Wading River (N.Y.). More from the region begin their regular seasons this week and next.
New Jersey too is set to face off this week and get the Mid-Atlantic fully underway. That will give top-ranked Summit (N.J.) a chance to show its stuff.
Springfield-Delco (Pa.) and Severna Park (Md.) are off to perfect starts early, and Wilson moves into the region’s top 10. Springfield-Delco (Pa.) hosts Radnor (Pa.) on Tuesday in a huge local game that also carries national implications.
The South Region is in midseason, but had no changes with teams playing well top to bottom. Lake Mary (Fla.). Lambert (Ga.) and Lassiter (Ga.) all remain unbeaten.
Worthington Kilbourne (Ohio) and New Albany (Ohio) enter the Midwest Region rankings after going a combined 4-0 early. The region play is just starting to ramp up, though Benilde-St. Margaret’s (Minn.) has yet to play.
The Colorado pair of Cherry Creek (Colo.) and Arapahoe (Colo.) pace the West Region. Monte Vista (Calif.) debuts at No. 9 after winning its first eight games.
