NORTHEAST
Matt Barry, Fairfield Prep (Conn.)
Fairfield Prep’s game against Don Bosco (N.J.) was postponed 24 hours due to inclement weather in northern New Jersey. It put a temporary pause on a great outing by Barry. The senior goalie had a slow start, allowing three goals in the opening quarter, but he only conceded three more the rest of the way, making 15 saves in the 9-6 road victory for the Jesuits. The Bentley commit started the season with 10 saves in a 12-11 win over Darien (Conn.).
“Matt played an outstanding game for us in our win over Don Bosco,” Jesuits coach Graham Niemi said. “After giving up three goals in the first quarter, he really settled down and only gave up three goals the rest of the game. He led a strong defensive effort and was really strong with his outlets. Matt’s a four-year varsity player for us and has a tremendous amount of big-game experience here at Fairfield Prep.”

MID-ATLANTIC
Tanner Shimko, Delbarton (N.J.)
The senior goalie was locked in for a couple of key matchups for the Green Wave. He saw the ball well early with five of his nine saves coming in the first quarter, as Delbarton jumped out to a four-goal lead on its way to an 8-5 win over Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) in a game between the state’s top two teams.
That performance came on the heels of the nine saves he made in Delbarton’s 12-11 win over previous national No. 1 St. Anthony’s (N.Y.). It was St. Anthony’s first loss of the season. He is allowing 7.67 goals per game in his first season starting full-time for the Green Wave. Shimko is committed to Johns Hopkins.

MIDWEST
Luke Zajdel, Detroit Catholic Central (Mich.)
It wasn't just that he had five goals in the Shamrocks' thrilling overtime victory over Olentangy Liberty, last year's Ohio Division I state champions. It's the fact that Zajdel scored the game-winning goal in remarkable fashion, surging from behind the net. Right as he passed the post, he flicked a brilliant shot over his left shoulder and into the net in the blink of an eye.
