After all the dust settles, there’s a new No. 1, two new teams in the top five and one newcomer to this week’s USA Lacrosse High School Boys' National Top 25.

Delbarton (N.J.) stunned former No. 1 St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) in double overtime, which allowed unbeaten Salisbury (Conn.) to take the top spot. Only Loomis Chaffee (Conn.) has stayed within nine goals of the Crimson Knights, who have outscored their first six foes 98-33, but they should face a challenge with No. 10 Lawrenceville (N.J.) visiting this week.

Delbarton jumped to No. 3, just behind Archbishop Spalding (Md.), which escaped a messy week in the Mid-Atlantic unscathed to emerge No. 2 nationally after defeating McDonogh (Md.), which was the first team to beat Calvert Hall (Md.). The Green Wave also stopped Seton Hall Prep (N.J.), which some had considered the top team in New Jersey.

McDonogh (Md.) also made a significant jump this week. The Eagles were healthy, at least until the second half of their win over Calvert Hall when they lost their FOGO, and the Cardinals rallied to get a last-second shot that could have tied it. McDonogh would have jumped more had it been able to upend Spalding too, but the Cavaliers played well at both ends for their fourth straight win. Now Archbishop Spalding will try to hold its spot in a showdown with St. Anthony’s this week.

Half Hollow Hills (N.Y.) earned itself a spot in the Top 25 this week. The Thunderbirds come in at No. 21 after continuing their hot start. They are one of three unbeatens out of the Northeast Region’s Top 10.

Brunswick (Conn.) split a couple of games against top-10 opponents. The Bears beat Lawrenceville in what has become an annual must-see game but lost to Malvern Prep (Pa.), which seems to take on another top-10 team every week.

Much of the second half of the ranking remains with Culver Academy (Ind.) beating Western Reserve (Ohio) in another significant Top 25 battle, but they are held from climbing further in the aftermath of a loss to St. Xavier (Ohio).

Landon (Md.) and Bullis (Md.) meet in another key Top 25 matchup this week that could shift the ranking. Unranked Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) has a chance to move in if it can knock off No. 24 St. Paul’s (Md.). SHP lost to St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) by one goal.
