USA Lacrosse High School Boys' Players of the Week
The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’ lacrosse in each of the four active regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.
The South Region has completed play for the season.
NORTHEAST
Michael Ippoliti, Farmingdale (N.Y.)
There’s been some outstanding goaltenders in Farmingdale (N.Y.) history — John Naslonski, Rob Mulligan, Anthony Tufano and Matt DeLuca — to name a few. Michael Ippoliti is making an argument for his addition to that esteemed group, especially after his performance in the Long Island Class A championship game. The Syracuse-bound senior, who transferred from St. Dominic’s (N.Y.) to his hometown Farmingdale, made 14 saves in a 5-3 win over two-time defending Long Island champion Northport Saturday at Stony Brook. Ippoliti was named the game’s most outstanding player as he helped guide the Dalers to their first Long Island title since 2011.
“We’ve played in a bunch of games where the team didn’t need the brilliance that we see every day in practice,” Farmingdale head coach Mike Hungerford said. “But whenever we needed it, he’s delivered. That’s why he’s a great player. He’s a big-game player.”
Also notable: Ryan Connelly, New Canaan (Conn.); Cal Girard, Manhasset (N.Y.); Jake Goldstein, Scarsdale (N.Y.); Jack Herendeen, Victor (N.Y.); Greyson Vorgang, Niskayuna (N.Y.)

MID-ATLANTIC
Ty Gougler, Springfield-Delco (Pa.)
Springfield-Delco dropped a 6-5 overtime decision to Radnor (Pa.) back on April 14. Gougler, the junior attack, made sure the Cougars didn’t experience that heartbreak again in the rematch. He scored four goals including the game-winner with 3:27 left as Springfield-Delco beat the top-seeded Raptors, 10-8, for the District 1 AAA championship. Radnor was two-time defending champions. It was the 14th straight win for the Cougars, who improved to 19-2. Gougler is committed to play at Drexel.
Also notable: Cole Brassington, Devon Prep (Pa.); Jacob Feeney, Eastern (N.J.); Patch Flannery, Lansdale Catholic (Pa.); Jack Frers, Ridgewood (N.J.); Jake Jackson, West Chester Rustin (Pa.); Caden Kirst, Bernards (N.J.); Jake Laubach, Manheim Township (Pa.); Connor Moore, Wall (N.J.); Rowyn Nurry, Salesianum (Del.); Ryan O’Connor, Moorestown (N.J.); Matt Sentowski, Mountain Lakes (N.J.); Teddy Skopak, West Essex (N.J.)

MIDWEST
Aiden Weisenborn, Wheaton Academy (Ill.)
For years, Loyola Academy and New Trier have dominated lacrosse in the Land of Lincoln, both boys and girls. That’s what made St. Viator (Ill.) taking on Wheaton Academy in the 2023 championship contest such a big moment in the history of Illinois high school lacrosse. Aiden Weisenborn, whose father, Geof, started the program a decade ago, per the Daily Herald, helped deliver the Warriors’ first title with six goals in a 17-9 victory over the Lions. The senior set a tone with the first two goals of the title game and five first-half goals overall as Wheaton Academy took a 12-4 lead into the intermission.
Also notable: Gus Bell, Benilde-St. Margaret’s (Minn.); Noah Miller, Wheaton Academy (Ill.); Nicky Pastore, St. Viator (Ill.); Marek Tzagournis, Dublin Jerome (Ohio); D.J. Wojciechowski, St. Xavier (Ohio)

WEST
Jack Duncan-Bloom, Jesuit Portland (Ore.)
The senior midfielder scored two of his three goals in the third quarter as Jesuit pulled away from West Linn (Ore.) for a 10-4 win in the Oregon High School Lacrosse Association state championship. The teams went into halftime tied at 4, but Duncan-Bloom led a five-goal scoring spree for the Crusaders in the third period and the defense held West Linn off the board the entire second half.
