MIDWEST TOP 10
1. Culver Academy (Ind.), 8-1
Per usual, the Eagles have started out the season playing all sorts of top-line talent, scoring impressive wins over Boys Latin (Md.), Kiski Prep (Pa.) and Gonzaga (D.C.), while falling to St. Anthony’s (N.Y.). In CMA’s latest win, a 12-11 overtime triumph over Gonzaga Sunday, Gabriel Sorichetti netted the game-winner with a laser of a shot from the far-right side. Previous: 1
2. Brother Rice (Mich.) 1-0
The Warriors got off to a dominant start with a 16-2 victory over St. Ignatius (Ohio) in Cleveland. Scoring four or five goals in each of the first three quarters, the Warriors were highly impressive against the Wildcats, who have been toward the top of the Buckeye State in recent years. Previous: 2
3. Forest Hills Central (Mich.), 3-0
The Rangers most recently recorded a pair of impressive wins over Hoosier State powers Carmel and Hamilton Southeastern. In the latter, FHC scored the game-winner with just eight seconds remaining. Amherst commit Sam Sneider had five goals and eight caused turnovers over the Rangers’ first three games while Michigan commit Crandall Quinn has tallied 43 saves. Previous: 3
4. Loyola Academy (Ill.), 2-0
Coming off back-to-back state championships, the Ramblers’ opener wasn’t easy but they managed to edge Glenbrook South (Ill.), 5-3, before picking up a more comfortable 17-2 win over Maine South (Ill.). One thing that’s clear early? Loyola’s trademark defense, led by Nate Schwitzenberg (Notre Dame) and so vital to last year’s title, appears to be in fine form. Previous: 4
5. Upper Arlington (Ohio), 1-0
The Golden Bears opened their season with a 17-4 victory over Thomas Worthington (Ohio). In the battle of Columbus-area schools, Upper Arlington took an early lead (4-1 after a quarter and 9-4 at the half) before exploding for a 7-0 third quarter to establish full control. Previous: 5
6. MICDS (Mo.), 3-1
Whereas in 2022, the Rams doubled up on each of their first eight opponents, this year they have been challenged from the get-go. Their first four games included a pair of one-goal wins, over Briarcrest Christian (Tenn.) and Durham Academy (N.C.), and a 7-1 loss to Memphis University School (Tenn.). The triumph over Durham Academy included a beautiful spin-and-score from Willy Carpenter to win it in overtime. Previous: 6
7. Dublin Jerome (Ohio), 2-0
The Celtics didn’t just gain Vitamin D on their trip to the Sunshine State. Dublin Jerome also soaked up confidence and experience in garnering a pair of tight victories over Ponte Vedra (Fla.) (13-11) and Bolles (Fla.) (15-14). Keeper Cory Lorentzen impressed throughout the weekend, as did Marek Tzagournis. Previous: 8
8. St. Xavier (Ohio) 4-0
The Bombers are off to a dominant start, outscoring their first four opponents 68-15. Johnnie Guttman (seven goals against Springboro) and Brendan Deeley (three hat tricks in four games) have excelled for St. Xavier, but it isn’t just the scoring, as Magnus Violet has been stellar at the X, including 14-of-16 against Springboro and 14-of-17 against Cathedral. Previous: 7
9. Hartland (Mich.), 2-0
A state champion a year ago, the Eagles are off to a strong start, out-scoring Mitten State counterparts Midland Dow and Grand Rapids Catholic Central by a combined margin of 36-10. How good is Hartland without Bo Lockwood (now at Michigan)? An April 5 test against Brother Rice, in a rematch of last year’s state championship game, will provide answers. Previous: 9
10. Carmel (Ind.), 5-1
The Greyhounds picked up two of the more impressive wins of the early season, topping Kentucky state champion St. Xavier, 6-5, and one of Michigan’s best, Detroit Catholic Central, 8-4. An April 14 game against Trinity Louisville (Ky.) is now looking like a must-watch. Previous: NR

6. Mountain Vista (Colo.), 4-0
The Golden Eagles returned from their trip to California and collected a 17-7 win over Denver East (Colo.) on March 21 behind Ethan Pearson’s five goals, but that was the closest game they’ve played this season – matching a 10-goal win over Santa Fe Christian (Calif.) the previous week. A test against Legend looms next week. Previous: 5
7. St. Margaret’s Episcopal (Calif.), 8-1
The Tartans rebounded from their two-goal loss to Legend with lopsided wins over Servite (Calif.) and Poway (Calif.) last week. St. Margaret’s has outscored opponents 140-41 this season. In-state games against Westlake (Calif.) and Santa Fe Christian are on schedule for this week. Previous: 8
8. Jesuit Portland (Ore.), 4-0
The Crusaders got through their first two of three games in California unscathed but eked out a 7-6 win at Sacred Heart Prep. It doesn’t get easier. They were set to face St. Ignatius Prep on March 27, then have games against Texas powers Westlake and Woodlands later in the week. Previous: 7
9. Loyola Los Angeles (Calif.), 8-2
The Cubs have won six straight since a four-goal loss to St. Ignatius Prep, and they’ve been dominant in that stretch with the closest game being a 13-7 decision against Westlake (Calif.) on March 22. The schedule gets tough again with upcoming in-state games against La Costa Canyon, St. Margaret’s and Foothill-Santa Ana before a pair of contests against Texas teams. Previous: NR
10. Bishops School (Calif.), 7-1
The Knights suffered an 11-6 loss to Colorado Academy (Colo.) but recovered in a big way with a 10-8 win over former No. 3 Torrey Pines (Calif.). Their next big test is March 31 against Sacred Heart Prep, which has lost three straight during a rough stretch of its season. Previous: NR
