There is a new No. 1 in the USA Lacrosse High School Boys’ National Top 25 as we hit the home stretch. Lawrenceville (N.J.) wrapped up its season and avenged its only loss by dropping Brunswick (Conn.) from the ranks of the unbeaten.

The impressive victory after falling in overtime to Brunswick in the regular season sent the Big Red back to No. 1.

There was another top-five change after Malvern (Pa.) defeated Haverford (Pa.) for the first time in three meetings this year. Malvern ends with wins over No. 4 St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), No. 5 Haverford (Pa.), No. 6 Salesianum (Del.), No. 7 Culver (Ind.) and No. 9 Boys’ Latin (Md.). Their strength of schedule and success within it gives them a big boost.

Much of the remainder of the Top 25 looks the same. McDonogh (Md.) switched spots with Boys’ Latin (Md.) after finishing atop the MIAA playoffs for the third straight season. The Eagles beat them twice to solidify their spot.

Newcomers to the Top 25, Northport (N.Y.) and South Side (N.Y.), have three losses between them as they gear up for deep playoff runs. Wantagh (N.Y.), which entered the rankings last week for the first time, remains just ahead of them after a perfect week.
