1. As the regular season enters its stretch drive, many of the best teams in the nation have solidified themselves at or near the top of the latest Nike/US Lacrosse Top 20 rankings, released yesterday. Even in the case of Division III women, where Tufts supplanted Gettysburg at No. 1, clear separations seem to exist between the top group and the rest of the pack in each division. 2. The men’s and women’s coaches associations and Inside Lacrosse yesterday released their respective polls, as well:
3. Loyola senior Pat Spencer earned the Warrior/US Lacrosse Player of the Week award after scoring five goals and assisting six others in his team’s 15-9 win over Lehigh.
4. Princeton’s Kyla Sears tallied six goals and nine assists in two wins to earn the Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week honor.
5. The New England Black Wolves clinched the final playoff spot in the National Lacrosse League’s East Division over the weekend. The West Division picture remains unsettled. More on that and a Week 18 preview in this week’s NLL notebook.
