This season, USA Lacrosse will celebrate the accomplishments of players across Divisions I, II and III each Tuesday with Player of the Week recognition. Players of the Week are selected by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors based on a variety of factors, including individual performance and impact on team success.
EMMA WARD, SYRACUSE
With Meaghan Tyrrell essentially neutralized against Stony Brook, Ward became Syracuse’s go-to facilitator. She had one goals and seven assists against the Seawvoles, orchestrating the offense in a 16-11 win. She added one goal and two assists a few days later in a 17-5 win over Louisville, giving her two goals and nine assists for the week — and 17 goals and 35 assists in 2023.
ALEYA CORRETJER, PACE
The graduate student tallied nine points, with five goals and four assists, to lead No. 5 Pace to a 16-5 victory over then-No. 7 Le Moyne in NE10 play last Saturday. The midfielder had three goals and two assists during a five-minute stretch that overlapped the first and second quarters and scored her five goals on just six shots. Corretjer is Pace’s leading scorer with 37 points (19 G, 18 A) through seven games, helping the Setters to a 6-1 start.
NOLA GARAND, KENYON
What a week for the sophomore goalie. In Kenyon’s important 8-7 win over Chicago, Garand made 17 saves — including two in the final 3:31. The first of those two saves kept the score tied at 7, and the second, with 1:15 left, preserved the 8-7 win. Garand made 19 saves overall last week, notching two in 30 minutes during a 17-8 win over Baldwin Wallace.
